Oral Medicine and Radiology has emerged as a separate specialty in Rajas Dental College during the late-1980 since its inception. The recognition of the importance of the relationship between the Oro- dental tissues to the other systems of the human body led to the establishment of the separate specialty of Oral Diagnosis, Oral Medicine and Radiology. Master of Dental Surgery in the specialty was introduced in the year 2017. This department is concerned with Diagnosis of Oro-facial diseases, including TMJ, Application of Radiation energy and Radio-diagnosis, Management of Medically compromised patients, Medical management of Oral diseases, Treatment of TMJ disorders, Pain management in Oro-facial regions. This department teaches students to build a strong knowledge on the basic principles of an effective diagnostic discipline and to improve diagnostic skills in identifying oral diseases and their relationships to the other systems, to provide a comprehensive understanding of the theoretical and clinical aspects of dental diseases and radiology, to train higher competence in both the general and special area of interest and to prepare a career in teaching, research, and specialty practice, to use information and communication technology in improving practice and oral health program management, to inculcate attributes for analytical and critical thinking, creativity and innovation, to instill an attitude that life – long learning is a professional obligation, and to emphasize an attitude that is positive, compassionate, receptive to improvement, ethically aware and contributory to the society.
